5 Fun Autumn Activities to learn more Swedish

Finally autumn! (Or fall, depending on where you are in the world.)

Who doesn’t love Autumn? The smell of the leaves, the beautiful colours, and the crisp cool air.

In the spirit of this season and in celebration of the release of my brand new Autumn activity book, I have put together a list of 5 activities that you can do with your child this season to practice Swedish and create cozy childhood memories.

1. Go nuts!

Sing “Ekorrn satt i granen” as you gather nuts in your yard or in a nearby park. (This activity will also help you prepare for the next activity!)

2. Grow an oak tree!

One of the best things about Autumn is the smell of the fallen leaves. Grow some future leaves of your own by following the steps here on the Swedish Natural History Museum’s website.

3. Scavenger hunt!

Do this activity from “Ute barn” where you look for all the Autumn colours in nature! You can discuss the colors in Swedish, of course.

4. Hibernate!

Build a fort in your bedroom or living room and get cozy with your favorite teddy bear! Now you have the perfect setting to sing and play “Björnen sover”.

5. Hejsan hösten!
